Minister for Family Hubs, Janet Daby, speaking at FHN and Spurgeons ‘Family Hubs Five Years On’ event in Parliament

Posted 22nd August 2024

We have had to turn people away from this incredibly popular event to celebrate the enormous progress made by central and local government and their many partners over the last five years since FHN was launched on Valentine’s Day in 2019. Over 500 Family Hubs have been registered on our website and the DfE have funded 87 local authorities to launch or turbo-boost their Family Hub networks.

Promisingly, a large number of non-funded LAs have also taken great strides in developing their own Family Hubs as a cost-effective approach to support families in the critical first 1001 days and throughout childhood. They help prevent family breakdown and enable councils and families to meet challenges such as the cost-of-living crisis, poor mental health and declining school attendance.

This event will connect local authorities and their delivery partners with parliamentarians and show how Family Hubs can address the new Government’s priorities. At least 10 different local authorities from across England will share practical, up-to-date examples of great practice.

At the start of this new Government, we are harnessing the enthusiasm for building on the Family Hubs transformation thus far and ensure its sustainability going forward.
