Health Settings

Integrating the work of health partners with all the other family support in an area is very important and this can be more easily achieved by siting Family Hubs in health settings. Community Hubs were recommended in the recent Maternity Review commissioned as part of the NHS Five Year Forward View. These ‘enable women and families to access care close to home, in the community from their midwife and from a range of other services, particularly for antenatal and postnatal care’. GP surgeries are routinely accessed by the vast majority of families and they are often the first port of call for relational problems. A Family Hub sited here would be well-placed to signpost parents to other support where necessary.
